Telepractice

Telepractice involves the application of interactive telecommunications technology via a computer platform to deliver clinical services at a distance. In the interest of the health and safety of our clients and their families, we will provide telepractice services only for as long as is necessary during the pandemic.

Telepractice is widely used in our profession and has been shown to deliver equally effective outcomes! Clinicians and clients are connected face to face, and we can continue to work on the same goals by simply using a different platform. Your clinician will continue to deliver assessment, therapy, education, training, counselling, and consultation services as indicated.

This video released in 2015 by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) highlights the benefits of telepractice:

The Chief Medical Officer of Health has advised that as of June 5th, there will be some lifting of restrictions as applied to healthcare professionals.  We await further direction from our NS legislative college. Although this is a positive step for our profession, we have been advised that only essential/urgent S-LP services will be available in person. S-LP services considered non-essential/critical should continue via telepractice wherever possible.

Please note that we will be preparing and conducting our sessions in the same way as we would for in-person service delivery, and the same billing methods and session rates will apply. We are thrilled to be able to continue to provide services to you through teletherapy and we look forward to when we can join you and your child(ren) in your homes again!
