Telepractice

We are pleased to offer virtual sessions for our clients in addition to in-home services. Virtual sessions are indicated for a variety of reasons including: residence outside of HRM, weather, illness, convenience, or simply preferred.

Virtual services (telepractice) use secure, interactive video technology to connect you and your clinician in real time through a computer or tablet. This modality allows us to deliver high-quality clinical services at a distance while maintaining the same level of personalized care and engagement.

Telepractice is widely used within our profession and research shows it delivers outcomes comparable to in-person sessions. Through face-to-face virtual appointments, we can continue working toward your goals using a flexible and convenient platform.

Your clinician can provide assessment, therapy, education, coaching, counselling, and consultation services virtually, based on your child’s individual needs and preferences.

If you are interested in booking a virtual session, please let us know and we will be glad to accommodate.

This video released in 2015 by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) highlights the benefits of telepractice:

The Chief Medical Officer of Health has advised that as of June 5th, there will be some lifting of restrictions as applied to healthcare professionals. We await further direction from our NS legislative college. Although this is a positive step for our profession, we have been advised that only essential/urgent S-LP services will be available in person. S-LP services considered non-essential/critical should continue via telepractice wherever possible.

Please note that we will be preparing and conducting our sessions in the same way as we would for in-person service delivery, and the same billing methods and session rates will apply. We are thrilled to be able to continue to provide services to you through teletherapy and we look forward to when we can join you and your child(ren) in your homes again!
